Int/Farmall 826

Looking at an 826 with they say 3000 hrs. Can someone give me pros and cons on these tractors?
Any information will be good.

Thanks as always in advance
Matt

Good solid tractor . Weak point is the T/A . IF the T/A is good and you want to keep it that way ya just follow the rules . (1) never use the T/A to slow down (2) keep the clutch , trans brake and dump valve in proper adjustment Change hyd. filter and Hy Trans as spec. They have a good engine that likes to be worked , not putts around as they will wet stack . I always wanted one but each time i got one someone just had to have it as they sold well so i just kept on farming with what did not sell fast . Don't know what the price is but i know what i use to have to give for them years back and what they sold for . So i am guessing here that IF you can get it for 6500-8500 and it is a descent looking tractor with good rubber and good sheet metal and everything works ya got a bargain.

An 826 is about 85/90 hp.The diesels use the 358 German.German diesels are very long lifed engines. They are good tractors,as good as the other IH tractors in that 'class'.Biggest thing is the TA.Parts for the German diesels(310/358) are starting to become obsolete, and tend to be pricey. The 826 was only built 70-71,about 10,000 were built. It was 'stopgap' tractor,to bridge the wide gap between the 756 and 856.It was also built to be a "direct competetor to the JD 4020.I own a 826Hydro,love it.Would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Probably the most user-friendly 92 PTo hp tractor ever built. Nimble, tough, economical on fuel, lots of weight. Now the bad points: about 42 years old and no one wants to sell one short of 10,000hrs,

3000 hours is just getting started in life on that tractor.

Keep in mind that those are "engine hours" though. It could have 9000 *operating* hours running around at 1/3 throttle, or 3000 hours running at PTO speed, though the truth is probably somewhere in between.
