3-5hp IHC LB Clutch Pulley

My wife bought me a 1941 IHC 3-5hp LB for my birthday and I need some help working on it. I am trying to remove the 10" clutch pulley so that I can mount the engine on a Cub Cadet 86 chassis, but I can"t get the cover off of the engine. I have the LB owner"s manual and I"ve followed the steps in there. I have the small handwheel off, and the four screws out of the cover, but the cover will only move about 1/8" side to side and away from the engine. I"ve been around it a few times with a rubber mallet trying to convince it to move, but it won"t budge. The manual says it should slide right off, which hasn"t happened yet.

Do any of you have any ideas on how to get it to come off?
Heres the Cub Cadet and engine

first lb i have seen with a clutch pulley. i dont think that lb will have enough rpm to cut grass.

I'm not planning on cutting grass with it. I'm going to use it to pull the wagon that I'm building for my 1.5 Sattley H&M engine and ice cream churn. It's also going to be nice to ride around shows instead of walking.

Without some better close up pictures, I can't help with the clutch removal. Also, if you get it off without damage, and want to sell it, I would be interested in buying it.

Not to throw a wet blanket on your plans, but that LB is going to weigh probably 3 times what the old Kohler did. Going to be tough to steer---if the front wheel bearings hold up. I broke the spindle on my 123 with just the mower on it. Of course, our yard is not smooth by any stretch of the imagination.
Good luck with the conversion.

I figured that the 8hp Kohler weighs around 75-80 lbs w/ oil. The gearbox that I put in weighs around 40lbs. I'm thinking that the LB weighs around 250lbs. I'm building a frame that will bolt where the gas tank skirts and the grille used to be to help support the load. If it becomes a problem, I can get beefier spindles and bearings later. To help with the 300-500RPM range of the LB I'm going to use a 2:1 belt drive to get the driveshaft RPM up to what the Kohler would have.

I'll take some pictures of the clutch pulley later tonight and link to them on here.
