The best money ive ever spent was to convert my super h to electronic ignition this website sells the kit. I fought with my tractor for months immediately after installing this kit it fired right off. It is very easy to install and fairly self explanatory. It made a world of difference for me.

When you change condenser make sure its from a good parts place I-H, Echlin or a name brand as some of the imports arent known for good service like those from TSC and other discount places.

I would make sure the points are opening. The rub bar gets worn down and the point may not be opening. The points should be .020 with the bar on a lobe.

I would then change condenser if you are sure the points are good.

With all components connected, put a test light on the distributor wire from the coil. If it flashes when cranking, I would replace the coil. Jim

i let the coil cool off and spark came back, i think im going to pick up napa IC14SB 12v coil and see if that fixs it, does this seem to be a good guess, im not sure if it has a 12v or 6v coil on it but by it getting hot it may be a 6v

You can tell easily whether you have a 6 or 12 volt battery by counting the battery cells. A 6 volt battery will have 3 cells and a 12 volt battery will have 6 cells. I think I didn't see a 12 volt battery until 1955 in a car. The military used a lot of them to get 24 volts. Hal

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see

A 12 volt conversion requires either adding a resistor ahead of the coil, or replacing the original coil with a 12 volt coil that does not require an external resistor. The IC14SB is a good choice.

well its a bit frustrating, but i got spark and it did run, but without using the resistor, here is a run down of what i have, and have done to it

1. 12v neg ground (the coil had ignition switch to neg and coil to positive when i got it running, is this correct or do they need to be switched)also coil resistence tests at 2.0 ohms when ignition is off

2. New condenser napa ih200

3 new plugs

4. points gapped at .019

5.i am ordering new napa parts- new cap IH350, rotor IH300 points cs 1600
