farmall H Puller

i read in a post from here you can use a 350 piston but yoiu had to get another wrist pin. Can any one please tell me what wrist pin will fit the H rod. i am looking to buy a kit from Denny's Carb Shop and need to know before the purchase thank you

I don't know for sure, but I think you would need 350 rods too? The hole on the H rod is smaller than the hole on the 350 piston. H wrist pins are smaller than 350 pistons.

You need either a 300 or 350 block or to have your block bored. There was a thread on this within the last week or so on this forum.

Do a search on this forum archives to find the feelings toward Denny's. Very interesting, and well worth your time and money. Jim

You're buying speed parts from Denny's, and they can't tell you? There's something else you need to know before making the purchase... the phone number of another supplier

H, SH and C169 engines to serial number 48048 originally used rods and pin bushings for a 1.109 piston pin. C169 with engine serial numbers 48049 and higher and C175 engines used a .875 piston pin with bushing and rod small end smaller than the previous engines. Since for the last 50 years IH and about all aftermarket companies sell the same piston and sleeve set for all 300 and 350 engines, they made a special pin bushing to put in the rods made for 1.109 pin bushings. The special bushing lets you use .875 pin pistons with rods made for 1.109 pins. This site sells the special bushings part # 363781R92. That makes 2 different size pins you can use in the H rods. Depends on what you want. All new piston pin bushings need to be sized after installing in the rods.
Like the others posted, C-175, 3-5/8 pistons won't drop in a H block.

I would consider pulling one sleeve & measing the bore of the block, this will tell you how much room you have for any new sleeves & pistons.

H piston pins are 1.10 in diameter
300 piston pins are .875 in diameter

You may have to go with pistons only in the bare H block, the piston diameter may need to be a special intermediate size to provide the proper skirt clearance.
Or
Have the H block bored to accept new sized liners.
The pulling forum here could be of better help, Denny's should be able to help you on what has worked for them in the past.

I know personally know people who did business with Denny's Carb Shop let's just say they will never do business with them again...I suggest finding your parts elsewhere, Good Luck ~Anthony

Picture of a H, SH and 300 type rod on the left with standard pin and bushing. Middle one a H, SH and 300 type with adapter bushing. Right 300 and 350 rod with bushing and a small pin.
You ask the question in another post about installing a 350 kit in a H. I listed the bore size of both with the sleeves removed within a couple thousands. Everything needs measured to know exact.
For cheap power help, after measuring you may be able to install 3-9/16 SH pistons with the same pin size as the H in the bare block with just a little block sizing unless the block already is to big for the correct piston clearance. Need to measure. Or you could bore the H block around .062 and use 350 pistons on the block. To use 350 sleeves that's another 1/8 inch or so that has to come out of the block.
If money is not a problem call one of the big name pulling engine builders known to be helpful.

Ok i bought stuff from Dennys before and so far had no bad luck but this time may be different. I did not call them to find out i looked it up on their website. I guess i should have stated that in my post sorry about the confusion. I imagine if i called them they may be able to tell me but not for sure. i just figured you guys would know alot more because you guys run them they build them. Thank you

Ok guys so you have gave a whole bunch of info and i am appreciative of it. i will look up Dennys on this site too. I know ever one has different opinions about different places as do I. Like last year I ordered a set of wheel Hubs from Murpheys Motor Service and they were junk. they did not fit they were out of round and one was smaller than the other but maybe some one else has had good luck with them. I myself will never purchase from them again but that is my opinion. Thank you for your help. Greg

Don't know that place, but a Google or YT search on Denny's will turn up a lot of complaints. Call them and ask about their products and all the questions you just asked here.
