Farmall 300 gas leak

Fuel will slowly drip from the bottom of the carb when the tractor is stored (and the fuel is turned off). When I rebuilt the carb last summer I also put a new gasket between the 2 halves of the carburetor, and gas still seeps through the gasket. My glass bowl also slowly drips around fuel shut-off knob. My idea was to buy a new glass bowl assembly and see if that helps. Any advice would be appreciated

There is packing on the shut-off valve just tighten the nut a little it will then make the valve turn a little harder. Put the rubber in the top part then the screen and it will not leak at the glass bowl.

Sounds like there's 2 problems here:

1 - Fuel dripping from the carb and from the sediment bulb shutoff handle says the sediment bulb is worn out. Replacing with complete new bulb assembly will cure that.

2 - Fuel coming from the bottom of the carb and between the bowl and air horn castings means the float needle valve is not shutting off when the bowl is full. Could be junk caught in the needle valve, a worn out needle, float level set to high, or a rubbing or gas-logged float. And gas leaking around the carb gasket means either the screws that hold the two halves together are loose, the gasket is bad, or (unlikely) there's a crack in the upper part of the bowl casting.

I"d think that the float may be sticking, that"s why I always recommend Dremel the inside of the float chamber to smooth it out, stop it from touching the float. Also, that"s why I mounted three fire extinguishers in the barn, and the gas tractor"s each carry have a small fire extinguisher.

Really? Obviously the boys who built those carburetors didn't feel the need to do that. Yes, the floats can hang up on the sides of the bowl IF the float arms are tweaked, but it is very simple and easy to just "tweak" the float back into a shape that clears everything.
