masking fresh paint

i just finished painting the first of the two colors on my hood on sunday morning, how long should I wait to mask off the hood on the fresh paint to keep the paint from peeling when the tape is removed after painting the second color

If you use the green painting tape you can tape off a few hours later

Depends on what brand of paint you used, and the temp. of your painting area.. If its the caseIH paunt, i'd give it a few day. Always use the 3M body shop masking tape. It really sucks when the paint comes off with the tape. Good luck. Kent

Try sticking the tape to your pants first (to reduce the stickyness before applying it to the fresh paint. Should work a treat!

Did you add hardener, if so I would let it set 48 hours, if not a week.

ussually wait around 2-3-4 days tops(if you are in a rush).. let the paint get cured some other wise you will leave impresions where your tape was. been there before.
