IH 3588 no park

Hello, I have an IH 3588 and I cannot shift it into park. Thankyou in advance for any ideas.

Explain "cannot shift it into park."

The lever won't go, or the lever goes but doesn't do anything?

Someone can help if you're more descriptive.

Thankyou, the leaver cannot be moved into the park position. We did manage to get it into the park position once last spring and everything held fine, but now it's back to being unable to move the leaver into the park position. Thankyou again.

Follow the linkage under cab floor. I would guess the toggle pivot mechanism is not going all the way over center and then you will not be able to get shift left to shift into park. In neutral, out of park that toggle must be firmly against the range trans top cover. They rust up and or get junk under neath them.
