I am restoring a Mccormick Deering 04 and have run into a problem.

The clutch release mechanism is rusty and immovable.

Is there a way to remove that plate under the starter without splitting the tractor?

Anyone have a quick fix for this?

Two things come to mind...................

If you are restoring it - you will be splitting it anyway....

And you need to purchase some manuals for the machine so you have the specs and assembly information at hand during the process

you have to remove the gas tank, belt pully, starter, linkage rods, disconnect guages, etc and the cover will come off without splitting the tractor in two. you cant split the tractor in two without doing the previous as the bolts that hold the two halves together are inside the body. Have you removed the inspection plate from the bottom of the tractor and taken a look inside to see what is the problem. I had a mouse nest and wasp nest inside mine that was preventing movement of the fingers on the pressure plate

We removed the inspection plate and yes, there was a lot of weird stuff in there, but nothing will move due to rust.

Thanks for the help!!
