b414 fuel line

Stating to dig into the 414. It looks like the fuel line has a pressure regualtor ( 1.5 inch diameter, aluminum pancake shape) in the fuel line. Is that what you think it is? is it necessary ( don't see it in the parts book). The thing has been sitting for 6 years but one think I always remembered about it is it would die when throttling up a little fast. the carb is new ( put on 6 years ago and used about 5 hours)

Sounds to me like a fuel filter.

I wish I could describe it better. It isnt a filter and actually has what appears to be a screw in the middle ( maybe an adjustment ?)

Maybe the screw is so you can take it apart to clean it.

If it's on the side of the engine then it sounds to an awful lot like the mechanical fuel pump? Those usually had a small screw on the top holding everything together. A picture would be best. Sam
