What makes a IH plow a Little Genius, is the no 8 similar? Anyhow I am getting my No 8 ready to compete in the vintage class at the world plow match in Olds, AB this July and I need some parts. Parts needed are the correct colters including shank and the attached jointer. No on the colter yoke should be PO 1383 for a 16" colter. Any good leads to find these parts would be appreciated...Darald

If it is a P&O or IH brand "No 8" plow, it *IS* a Little Genius.

All P&O / IH No 8 plows are Little Genius.

Like was stated, a #8 Tractor Plow is a Little Genius.

I don"t know where to tell you to look for Coulters and Jointers, but as far as I can tell, many if not most, parts on 1, 2, 3, & 4 bottom #8 Plows will interchange. The 3 & 4 Bottom #8"s are getting hard to find, at least in my neck of the woods.

I am told that Canadian sold plows are slightly diferent. The #8 Tractor Plow doesn"t have the diagonal bar on the frame between bottoms and uses a 2 piece bar that runs perpendicular between the frame bars.It will be drilled to allow the furrow width to be changed. All IH trailing plows I have seen here in Ontario are made this way.Don"t know what else is different.

ive seen some canadian plows first hand an i can tell you they are a fair bit different. not sure how much will change over

I have one I am sending for scrap if nobody wants it. It has a broken axle and a bottom broke.I am in Pennsylvania.

Darold,

The late Hugh MacKay, who lived near Strathroy, Ontario, and who knew more than anyone about IH plows, once told me that American plows were called "#8, Little Genius". The Canadian plows were just called "#8"....without the words Little Genius.

There are some structural differences and Canadian plows I saw at the IPM near London, ONT, last September use Ace moldboards, which are not common in the American Midwest.

But I think the coulters and coulter arms would match up nicely.

What part of Pennsylvania?

I may know someone who is interested.

Do you have a picture of it that you can post?

Thanks for the input, I located a set, not correct but will work, but I am going to keep looking for the correct coulters and jointers.
