can anyone identify 2-row planter ?

Still looking for someone to identify what model planter unit this is. I would like to buy a proper user manual, to be able to know how to adjust drive chains & sprockets, spring tensions, etc.

Local IH-Case dealer is basically guessing -- could be a 186, 286, 486, or 251, 252, 253 --- but doesn't know for sure.

And no one seems sure enough for me to use their suggestion to buy a manual with.

Got a nice setup always wanted a 2 point planter ! Kinda hard to come by ! I know where one is complete! Ill get it one of these days!
 
You might just have to calibrate the planter yourself. Even with the manual you would need to do just that. The manual could suggest settings, but final calibration would be left to the operator. If it is putting out too many seed then cut back the speed of the planter drive, use smaller plate openings, or plates with fewer openings. If not enough, then do the opposite.
 
As I understand the 185 planter units are individual drive unit planters and that is not a unit type of planter. I would go to Messick's site and try all the numbers given and see if you find a match and doing that likely you will find more models to try.
