Woods 59 deck guards

I have figured out from a prior thread I have a right hand deck, however both right and left guards are on this deck. Were these designed to run this way, or should I remove the right side plate. Thanks

When I had my 59" Woods I had the right side removed. It seemed to get the grass clippings out easier on taller-grass areas.

The only time I use any side gaurds is in the fall when I am trying to mulch the leaves that I am too lazy to rake! Make sure to follow the owner"s manual and be sure the back of the mower ia a bit higher than the front when you have it in the lowered/mowing position.

I don't run them on either side either. If it is wide open it does a good job of spreading thatch everywhere. I also don't have the skids on either side as they always seem to loosen up and cause me grief. I mow areas that are pretty flat with mine and don't have trouble with it scalping, though.

If it is clean underneath it does as good a job as any riding mower. If it starts to build up it doesn't have the right suction - the right blade starts cutting funky.

Those are for shredding leaves in the fall and not used for mowing grass so remove them for lawn mowing that way the blades can get rid of the clippings.

I have a LH mower and run with the LH side open so to do it the way I do, remove your RH cover plate. Woods actually makes a discharge chute for these mowers and I have one that has not been used for years because it always wanted to catch fence posts or anything else you wanted to get close to.
