IH 350 Power Steering Pressure Question

Hi all,
Anybody know what the pressure reading should be on the pressure side of a 58 IH Farmall 350 power steering system. I'm only getting a 250 PSI reading and the power steering is not working. The power steering unit is a Behlen. It has not worked since the day I baught the tractor.
Thanks a ton for any help.
Jim

Hi Pete,
Can you tell me were the relief valve is located? Then I can check it to see if it is the source of the low pressure problem.
Thanks much,
Jim

It is in the valve block to the left of the first control valve for the fast hitch (if equipped). While turning the steering use one of the remotes that is not connected. if that makes the steering easy, it may be that diverter.
My next test would be to put a 2000psi gauge in one of the remote couplers and use that port's lever to pressurize it. If the indicated pressure is low there, then the next place to look is the diverter/regulator. If that seems OK, it must be the pump. Jim

Power steering has it's own separate relief valve. It is a small ball valve right in the flow divider circuit. You need to take the flow divider spool out and fitting going to power steering. Then you go up through the fitting port with screw driver.
