IHC LB Engine in all original condition - Common??

Hello- I am new to the stationary gas engine scene. My family has always used IH farm equipment and I have restored a few Farmall tractors. I have aquired my grandfathers" McCormick Deering vacuum pump and milker set-up. The pump and milker unit is still in very good original condition. I would love to find a nice original LB engine (1.5-2.5 hp) with original paint to mate up with the vacuum pump. Is it very common to find them in this condition? I have inquired on several that are for sale but they have all been restored. I would pay as much for a nice original example as I would for a restored model. I do not plan on restoring the vacuum pump therefore would like to find one to somewhat match. Any thoughts?

Not uncommon at all, one of the two or three most common engines out there, should really have no trouble finding an original one. Lots of people restored engines that didn't really need painted very bad, most engine buyers now will pay more for an engine with 10% paint than they will for a restored one.

I have one. It has been stored in the back of my shop for 40 years. Every few years I bring it out and start it up. Where are you located? I am in the middle of Canada, approximately 75 miles from the U.S. border.

Dad had dairy cattle until I was 13 years old. Our "backup" if the electricity went out was an IH LB engine. The only time I can remember coming close to using it, the electricity came back on as Dad was trying to start the engine. I never did hear it run, but I tried to start it a few times... never had any luck. I think the gas left in the tank was probably 20 years old and I wasn't aware at the time that it probably wouldn't burn if you threw it on a fire

Red Mercury - I am located in central Indiana. Does your engine still have the original paint? Would you have any desire to sell your engine?
