f4 magneto question

Can't get any spark on my 1938 f12.Tractor ran last year.Thinking it might be the condenser.Where would I get one of those? Thanks.

They take the same condenser as the H4. Rice has them as well. Cowman used to have them. Rustic red Acres has them. NAPA used to sell the condenser for the H4, so check that out as well.

If you can find a shop that can test your old condenser it can provide a definite answer as to whether it is bad or not. New ones can be bad, so a new one not solving the problem doesn't mean it wasn't the condenser all along!

This site sells them as well $9.98 The points are, however, different on the F4 than the H4. H4 and F4 also take the same coil.......only the points are different.

Like both Oldiron29 and Hugh have posted, clean and set the points before you go any further. Then, and only then start replacing components. Dirty points are the #1 cause of F4 "worked then didn't work" symptoms.

Thanks to everyone for your help.I had the mag off anyway,so I took your advice and cleaned & reset the points.I grounded it,hooked some plugs to it and spun it on the bench.Got a good hot blue spark.I,ll set the timing on the old girl, put the mag back on an see what she does. Many thanks.
