Looking for a Mentor

I live in Spooner, WI and am looking for a mentor in this area. Anyone know of someone close ?

"Mark M. Slavens" Spooner, WI; I suggest seeking out an engine-tractor-heritage museum, etc. they go by different names (much to the ire of some folks, names get changed...'ok Al, off your soapbox). There is an IHC organization in Wisconsin also. Your posting on this site could bring out someone lurking in northern Wisc. also. Another suggestion, contact your local school; providing they still have an FFA Chapter, the instructor might have some students and you could co-mentor. Good luck.

Maybe lookup the board of directors/members for the Edgar Steam Show. I don't know of any steam shows any further north or west than that.

There is a guy by the name of Ira that parts out tractors for a living. I'm sure you could go wrench down there and pick some stuff up. He didn't seem like the teaching type when I met him. He has stuff listed on ebay from time to time.

I have to agree with Dean, stick with us here and you will have dozens of mentors willing to help. I came to this website with very little knowledge regarding tractor mechanics, repair, and maintenance and now a year and a half later feel comfortable "mentoring" others with their issues, even if it is on a limited basis. Between the advice here, advice in the archives, pictures available, and a good manual, there's nothing you can't fix!

Seems that the responses assume you are looking for mentoring related to IHC tractors. But that may not be the reason. Maybe you want mentoring in math or electronics or carpentry !!!

I think he just needs some help in Working on his old Farmall "A" tractor. Like rebuilding the steering box, etc.
