Mornin' folks. My ?, why are the studs on the solenoid I found in my pile of stuff that came with my latest Farmall 340 purchase, larger than the solenoid studs on my oldest F-340? Was this a newer solenoid and allowed for a larger battery cable and connector? The heat is on in the garage, good coffee and polka music from wsau dot com. Enjoy your day folks!

Not being there and with no specs or current ratings on the solenoids, first guess would be BIGGER STUDS FOR HIGHER CURRENT RATING AND BIGGER TERMINALS (used on bigger cables)

6 volt starters can (subject to design etc) draw more current then 12 volt (like a pickup) and perhaps use higher current rated solenoids and/or solenoids with bigger studs to accept bigger cable ends???

I used to watch the Big Fat Joe Polka Shown on RFD TV but they threw his fat *** under the bus for Molly B who is a lot easier to look at, I can "tolerate" her lol

One of my favorites is The Polka Nuts form Colorado, Mike and his 2 daughters and with the hammered dulcimer and their style of Dutch Hop.

John,

Yes, The Polka Nuts, great music.

Sorry, I have nothing about electrics to contribute to this post. :(
