IH 560 Steering Wheel

I am hoping there is someone on this forum that has changed out a stering wheel. I ordered a new one from this web site. The middle was gone from the old wheel of course. I removed the center nut and had a gear puller attached to he hub on the bottom. No go!I used penetrating oil till it was running out from the bottom. I did not see a setscrew anywhere. What am I missing? Merry Christmas and thanks in advance!

That should be it. If you have a torch I'd warm it up some make life easier I haven't gotten around to changing mine yet but do have one and the cap to go in the center

If you have a die grinder with a cut off wheel, cut a slice in the hub, not to deep so you don't mess up spines. It shoud come off then.

Mine had set out int he rain for years. Put on a gear puller, torqued it down, PBlasted it, heat, waited day after day, torqued it every day, heat every day, PBlaster, one day she popped loose.

On another post I saw where someone had got one off with the two hammer method. Place a big hammer tight to the side of the hub and sharply strike the other side with another hammer. This should swage the hub a bit and it should pop right off.

I used a gear puller and it took a while. The shaft and hole in the wheel are tapered. Don't have your head in the way when it pops loose. Mine went several feet.

Steering wheels can be difficult to remove. Sometimes they've been on there for decades, sitting outside in the weather.

If you can heat them with an oxy-whatever torch, they'll pop right off, but you destroy the plastic in the process. That's ok, as long as you don't care about saving that old wheel.
