Well, now a follow-up question. I have gotten a few pages run off from the factory shop manual on my 450, but before I start plowing through them, I wanted to ask another question: I got the lever in place properly, hooked up something heavy, and headed uphill in third gear, and pulled the lever back--no perceptible change. Then I released it and let it go forward--again, no change. Engine did not change tone, tractor did not slow down, or speed up, it just kept pulling up the hill in third gear. If somebody was gonna hazard a guess, what would those symptoms point to, or rule out? In the meantime, I'm off to reading a bunch of pages from the shop manual on adjustment. Thanks, Hugh
