Farmall H Steering Shaft

Hey guys! Replaced the small oil seal and steering shaft bushing in the upper bolster, and now the steering shaft won"t fit! Someone has welded the shaft up for the bearing at the center support so I"m wondering if they didn"t weld up the other end to fit the worn bushing. Either way I"m hoping someone will know the ID of that bushing when pressed in the bolster or what the OD of the shaft should be so I can turn it down. Thank you!!!

I would bore out a bushing before turning a new shaft.

I agree the bushing is likely to be intended to be reamed to size and aligned to the bore of the ball bearing. Jim

I am Mount Vernon and have reamers.

I have reamers and could go that route. Of the dozen or so front ends I have been through on various letter series Farmalls, this is the first that had a shaft that did not fit the new bushing...that is why I was suspect of the shaft.

Can't you mic your bushing for I.D. ?
