over bore 46 farmall m

I am looking in to making some more power for tractor pulls. I just want to place better then last.I have fire creator positions from what I can tell looking through the spark plug hole. .I may PULL the head to check the bore.I have a 8060 cast # head.I w a s told on here it a stickiness. Will roller rocker do much? I have been reading through the site for days.

before you rip it apart, what does it have for compression? does it have a leaky intake manifold? what venturi is in the carb? timing advanced to?etc?maybe a good tune up is all it needs

if you are pulling against a bunch of guys with stroker kits and deep pockets you won't get far with a stock engine. Most of the Ms pulling have 90-100 hp .

I have done a tune up electronic ignition,New plugs re gaped the values re timed. I have it running like a champ. I want out in the cold and fired it up. It was idling be for my food was off the starting peddle. I'm in NY so -10 at night.

Oh there are about 6 guys that have pockets that drag behind.some guys air plane fuel. One guy had a m that was pulling 12,500lbs. I know I will not be doing that. What does a built motor like this cost?

How deep are your pockets?I hope they are DEEP.Its gonna take a LOT of money to win the tractor pulls.

you need 100hp to be a good start. ive seen super m on dyno, with lp head in the low 80s n they have fun. get more weight off it. more movable weight, better balance gets distance. shoot me an email. can tell ya a few hints.

Hi, I'd say she's a bit low on compression. My 1950 with a 8777 head has 85psi. Probably the cheapest way to get more hp out of it will be to turbocharge it. I did that to mine and I like it. BTW, don't put a larger venturi in the carb, the #27 works better than a #29. I might try a #25 as well and see if it helps on the bottom end.

What class are you going to pull in? If Div 1 (stock) I would think about 45hp. You should be able to acheive this with either a 4 1/8" bore or 4" bore with a 450lp head with everything runing in top condition. My dad pulls a Super M Dyno"s 45Hp, rpm"s turned up 10%. He uses 13.6 x38 tires and he has many a first place wins.Should be a strong pulling tractor. I have never seen it pull down in 1st gear, even in the 6600lb class. Been pulling for 3 years.

In the long run it would be cheaper to buy a puller. I see puller M's here in western, Pa selling for between $5000 and $8000.
My own M had the 4 1/8th set up and makes about 60 hp. At the local pulls most check rpm's before and after you pull. So that is not an option. If you run an open class they will eat you alive. I don't care what you do to the engine, if you can't put the power to the ground, you aren't going to pull well. But when you do you might win the $50 FIRST PLACE money and that makes it worth it . Right?
