Farmall 140 won't start

My 1960 140 has been starting up just fine all winter so far until the other day. Usually I choke it, turn it over, cut the choke and it runs for 5 secs or so and stalls out. I just repeat those steps 1 or 2 times and it runs great. The other day instead of doing the normal routine I left the choke on for about 5 seconds and it stalled out not to start again. Since then I've taken the plugs out and turned over the engine to clear out any extra fuel. Also removed the carb and disassembled cleaned and re-installed. The floats were in good order and the needle and it's seat seemed clear and clean.
I'm not sure what I'm missing, most likely something simple.
Any help?
Thanks

Sounds like you flooded it and that in turn causes the plugs to gas foul. Clean the plugs by using lighter o other such heat to burn off the gas and try again

(quoted from post at 01:11:21 01/31/14) Do you know for sure you have fire to the plugs?
No not entirely sure that they are firing. How can you tell on the old style plugs that are enclosed with just a hole at the bottom of the plug.
Thanks

I've owned a 1966 140 since new. That would happen once a winter before I switched to electronic ignition. I learned not to bother trouble-shooting--I'd just swap cap and rotor and she'd fire right up. The old ones may still be good--clean them up and try them again in the summer. If good, keep them in reserve for next winter.

"Just a hole at the bottom of the plug" huh?

Never heard of such a thing.

If that truly is an "old style" plug then the tractor is way past overdue for new spark plugs. Costs about $15. Takes about 10 minutes.

Are you sure that they're not those 'anti-foul' devices attached to the ends of the plugs? If there are two places for wrenches on the plug, that's probably what is going on.
