1086 Shifter

The high low shift lever on my 1086 suddenly quit working today. The gear shift lever work's fine and the park and reverse works. It will not go from park or reverse into the low and high slot. I'm going to tear into in the next couple day's. Anybody got any idea's what I should be looking for to cause this ? Thanks in advance.

I would be looking for a pin that has fallen out or sheared.Same thing happens on my 06,56,66 tractors

Could be the snap ring on the end of the shaft at the shifter. Easiest way to get to it is to cut a hatch behind the wheel.

On 86 series there is some linkage adjustment directly under the floor of the cab where the shifter passes through. One of the experts (vet or Allen) might know exactly what is causing it to jam.

First thing to do is pull the floor mat out and remove the floor plate . There are three rods under there hooked to the shifter . They all have what i call CUB CADET tie rod ends on them . More then likely the high low one just plum wore out due to extensive field testing and fell off. If this is the case then ya need A new one . Now in a bid i have had some luck with recrimping with a good hard punch , not a permint fix but will get you by for a little while till ya can get a new one in. Tools needed for the job , one 9/16 socket one extension one ratchet , one 7/16th open ended wrench and one 1/2 inch combo.
