Gotta question about parts for tractors?
Which is more expensive to fix when it comes to comparing parts and their prices a Cub or a Super A?

So if the same thing is wrong with both tractors which will be more expensive to fix? If a carburetor has gone bad on both?

Which will be cheaper to fix when problems occur on them?

Also are parts convertible?
Not from Cub to Super A but from say a 1949 cub to a 1951 cub or 1949 Super A to a 1951 Super A?

I am just trying to figure out which tractor is going to be good for what I need and to add stuff to it later.

If I were fixing a tractor to work with, I would go with a Super A, Many parts are the same as used on a Super A, 100, 130, 140 ,Super C, 200, 230, 240. Cubs were good little tractors, but a bit underpowered. New parts would be priced about the same for either tractor.

cub is o k for small acreage. around home, some farmers used to use cubs, on farms less than 100 acres. this was in a era when mules were being phased out and tractors were coming in. cub pulls sickle mower very well. not so good on breaking ground, kinda slow. pretty good cultivating tractor. pull small 2 wheel trailer.

cub drinks about 0.60 gals gas per hour, while tractor the size of A will use 1.0 gal gas per hour.

it depends on how big your acreage may be and how fast you wish to get something done.

I'd look for a late model Super A1 that had the water pump (C-123 engine_ and newer - lot of common parts with the later tractors.

Farmall A used a manual lift and a bunch of the implements mounted differently.

The Farmall Super A had touch controls and all the implements were common with all the later tractors.

Their was one change in the Super A that happened late in production --- they changes the C-113 to a C-123 engine that had a water pump.

Farmall A, B and C shared common engines - Farmall A & B were offset with flanged rear axles -- Farmall C looked like a small H or M -- rear wheels clamped on and slid to adjust.

Lot of flavors of front ends - A had a wide front B a narrow front and the C came with both.
