1256 engine

The farm that I work for has one last IH tractor a 1256 and now the crankshaft if broken, not sure of the damage yet there arent any holes in the block but it needs some attention. Should I fix it, part it out, or does anybody want to buy it "as is".
 
1256 tractors are still very popular.sell it as is.Or sell it fixed...Do not scrap/part it!I have one,love it.I would buy yours if it were closer.BTW,been plowing with mine today,yesterday....Still have maybe 100 acres yet to do.

If it broke a crank if i was doing the rebuild the block would go in for a LINE BORE ( notice i said LINE BORE ) NOT a line HONE . If they can not BORE it find someone that knows what they are doing . and also if it was a lot closer i would be interested .

If they can not BORE it find someone that knows what they are doing . and also if it was a lot closer i would be interested . a good possibility the reason it broke the crank is the the damper moved and when this happens it sets up harmonics and you can kiss the crank good by.
 
by the way my boss is taking offers to buy it as is. just remember it is not my call, Im just the hired wrench that usually works on deere
