2255 Loader on a Farmall 706

Ok guys, I have the 706 running great and am looking to put a 2255 loader on it. I have found one and it looks like a good one - it was just mounted on a more modern tractor previously.

Am I right in thinking it will need different mounting brackets? The guy says the brackets with it are universal, but I don't believe that.

Finally, how hard are the brackets to fabricate if I can't find one.

This loader seems like a good deal, and if I can make it work, I think it will be worth it.

Thanks,

Matt

I have remain the 2250 farmall brackets. Not such a thing as
universal brackets. Also have loader for sale. 219-207-0240.
I have a manul which show what u need for each tractor

Depends on what the "more modern" tractor is, whether the brackets will fit or not. It appears that there are "base" brackets and adapter plates to fit different tractors.

There's a 2250 loader mounted on an 856 for sale locally that looks like the base brackets just bolt directly to the tractor frame. A 706 frame is almost identical to an 856.

If it's a good deal and in good shape, buy it.

To put a loader on an early 706 u need an extra plate that bolts
on to the bell housing. The frame is to short. You will also
need the spacers to set the brackets out. The brackets will
bolt right up to a 766, 966 ect. If you have a 1967 706 with the
long frame it will bolt right on with the use of spacers. On
some tractors you have to drill holes in the frame for the back
mounting brackets.

Everyone keeps using the terms 2250 and 2255 loaders interchangeably. From what I understand, these are very different loaders. Will the brackets interchange between the two?

I can make spacers and have acess to steel plate, I just want to make sure I am not welding brackets that will be load bearing. I am not a great welder. Also, I just don't want a cobbled together mess.

By the way, my 706 is from 1965.

Matt. You are right the 2 loaders use completely different
brackets. I should have checked that out before I spoke.
The brackets that we remain are for a 2250 not the 2255

A 2255 loader was made for the front wheel assist 85 series (885, 685 etc)

Totally different than a 2250, big time.

Can't see why a 2255 wouldn't fit a 706, but I'd be surprised if any factory brackets existed.
