Repair hydraulics, or custom 3 point hitch?

I have a 1953 Farmall Super C tractor with
hydraulics that work great when cold, but as the
system warms up it gets so weak it can"t lift
implements.

The pump seems to be working fine so I"m assuming
the seals on the hydraulic cylinders are worn
(they are leaking) Yesterday"s Tractors says they
don"t have a rebuild kit so my question is:

Has anyone rebuilt the hydraulic block on one of
these using generic parts?

On another note I can get a regular hydraulic
cylinder and build myself a custom three point
hitch. Any suggestions one way or the other?

Thank you in advance,
Bill

If the implements/cylinder don"t drop when lifted, or drop only over night, the issue is probably the pump. As things get warm, the fluid gets thinned down and a worn pump will show its nature. A thicker fluid Might help till a stronger pump is put on. Jim

Thanks Jim. I"ll cap the line and put a pressure gauge on the pump and let warm up a bit. If it looks low I"ll just rebuild the pump. Sound like a plan?
