This site won't let you "upload pics." You either need to put them in one of the galleries listed on the home page, or have an account on an external photo hosting site. Then you can link them in here.

The 2400A is an industrial tractor, not a farm tractor, and is really kind of an orphan these days.

Basically the difference between farm tractors and industrial tractors are the color of the paint, the type of tires used, and possibly some added features to make the tractor handier in an industrial setting. Shuttle shift is common, as are higher-capacity hydraulics for quicker loader response and heavier axles, etc.

Hi, I believe 2400A is based on 454 IH farm
tractor but as mkirsch said there are differences.
Is it gas or 3 cyl Diesel? Parking brake is
biggest problem. Operator leaves parking brake
engaged and drives tractor tearing up parking
brake band which is in diff/trans that is also
reservoir for hydraulic fluid. The bits of parking
brake band will clog hydraulic filters. But if
this happened years ago and hydraulic filter has
been changed many times the bits are all gone or
collected in bottom of diff/trans.

it is a gas machine, i knew it was an industrial tractor thats what i wanted mainly because its ruggedness its is not a shuttle shift just 4 sp high lo

thanks for the advice, ive got a stethescope. i forgot to take it with today, but i pulled the valve cover off quick and everything was good under there did a comp check the first three had 80-85 lbs and number 4 had 90-95lbs im wondering if the governor could be causing the ruckuss. its almost to fast of a noise to be a part of the rotating mass.. idk maybe not
