Super A 295 2-12 plow setup

I picked up a nice A 295 2 bottom plow for my Super A yesterday. I was wondering if anyone can explain how it set it up on the tractor as far as the leveling screw and touch control adjusting link. I plowed with it after I hooked it up and it did ok, but it needs some tweaking I think. It doesn't seem like the back plow is pulling deeper than the front one and its not really flipping the dirt over too well. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Did you flip the drawbar around and mount it to the front mounting pads on the final drives?

295's are pretty rare and I haven't seen a lot of discussion on them... AFAIK it should mount just like an A-193 plow. You flip the drawbar around, bolt it to the front mounting pads, and then bolt the plow to the drawbar, offset to the right side.

The solid bar link should bolt to the center hole of the drawbar and connect to the right arm of the touch control. This controls the pitch of the plow, which controls the depth of the plow.

In the rear, I think all there is is a chain to lift it out of the ground. The chain should be slack when plowing. None of the pictures I have found show any sort of screw adjustment, though I would expect it possibly adjusts side-to-side level, which you check once you've made a pass and have the tractor's right wheels in the furrow on the second pass.

If the plow is not plowing evenly, it could be mounted wrong. It could also be worn out, or the ground could be too dry and hard to plow.

I do have the drawbar reversed and the plow mounted offset to the right. All the wear parts are in excellent shape. The plow has a few of the original metal part tags on it so it wasn't used much. It was on the tractor as a snowplowing counterweight. I'm wondering if the touch control link needs to be adjusted and shortened. There is what looks like a threaded eye bolt near the mounting hitch (it might have been part of a crank, something like the fast hitch crank adjust) that I guess is supposed to be another adjustment that I didn't play with. I have the chains slack when the plow is in the ground. I had them hooked up temporarily to the rockshaft arms because the bar with the chain hooks that came with the plow needs to be fixed.

Must be a regional thing. Most Super As were sold with the 295 here.

I haven't used mine in a while but I believe you center it on the drawbar, not offset like a Cub plow.

Double-check all settings.

Forgot to add--pulling the touch control level back pushes the front of the plow down and makes it go deeper. Push the touch control lever forward pulls the front of the plow up and makes it go shallow. You may need the lever pretty far back to get it to suck into the ground especially on the first pass. You want it to run with the lifting chains slack. The eye bolt is used to level the plow--originally there was a long crank that goes up to level with the steering wheel so you can adjust from the seat. It's just like a 3 point hitch plow, when you're in the furrow you want the plow bottom to be sitting level.
