Looking at a IH 684 with a loader

I am looking at an IH 684 with an international loader. It has 2975 hours on the tractor. I have only seen photos and wont actually see the tractor until Friday morning. What should I look for to identify possible problems with the tractor. They are asking 8500 with all new tires, loaded in the rear. Does this price seem right for a 35 year old tractor???

Check the basics like does the TA work in low and hi range. Do the breaks work properly. I find on most of these 30 plus year old tractors when itshows 2500 hours its really 12500 hours. IH hour meters turn back to 0 after 10000 hours.
In my neck of the woods a 684 with new tires and a 2250 loader would go for 7500 to 8500.Keep us informed on your decision. Hope this helps. Kent

Price sounds ok with new rears, honest hours and decent shape

Brakes, parking brake are the two big ones.

Recently saw a 584 sell at a farm auction, diesel, one remote, no loader, good tires not new, no TA--$7300.
