Schebler Carb no idle adjust

I have a scheduler carb that was just rebuilt. I can get it to start and it even runs ok but when I try to adjust the idle I can run the scream all the way in or out and it has no affect. I did not rebuild the carb myself and have not torn into it again but thought I would get some ideas. Not that it matters but this is on a farmall B.

The carburetor is still dirty inside. Send it back to the rebuilder and tell him to do it right this time, or refund your money.

It was my brother in law. Maybe I need a new one of
those...I was going to tear it apart but was curious
why it still runs and not only that it runs pretty
good once it starts.

Just a thought, but is the butterfly closing all the way? If the throttle shaft was removed, the butterfly may be a smidge off. Try loosening the screws on the butterfly a turn or two and re seating the butterfy, then tighten the screws.

Well not sure but I know on any of my machines I pretty much do not idle them at all. But all mine are work machines. Also the idle stop screw has to be set low or the idle mixture screw will do little or nothing

Like Old said You have to back that idle speed screw out to a slow idle before the mixture screw will do much of any thing.

I am trying to adjust the idle mixture. I do not see what the idle screw would have to do with it as it is just a stop. Even if it is idling too fast if i bottom out the mixture adjustment it should change the idle or even die. I could see the butterfly having an effect though. If the mixture needle/seat and passage was plugged would it even run?

If that circut is plugged it will start had. You just mite be looking for a problem that doesent make a problem if it starts and runs carb must be in pretty good shape. Idle mixtures on those tractors isnt usually a big problem.

If the idle SPEED is too fast, the idle circuit of the carb will not be in use, or will be by-passed. The idle mixture screw will then have NO effect, because that part of the carburetor is not being used.
