Rustred is spot on. I have 5 of the LA/LB engines. No sleeves. However, they did make oversized pistons if you can find them. These engines are forgiving. Unless the bore is totally shot, pitting for the most part is not a huge crisis. I have 2 that were fairly heavily pitted. I gave them a good honing, put new rings in them, and run 'em. they run great, and do NOT smoke. Since I don't know the overall condition of your bore, I can't say whether that will be your result.
