stabilizer bars

I bought 2 stabilizer bars 230042R Mine are gray not red with 31 1/2 hole spacing. I'm trying to attach a shredder to the tractor but the stabilizer bars are 1/4 inch short or if i Connect one the other is 1/2" short. Are the mounting brackets under the axle slotted to where you can adjust them or the hole where the stabilizer bolt goes into the bracket? Mine are so tight I can't get either loose. The mounting bracket is held on by 2 long bolts which also hold the fenders.

the attachment brackets under my axles have slots, so they can be adjusted maybe one inch.
TO35 Ferguson.
but you will have to at least loosen the fender bolts to find out if yours have slots.

however, I always just use one stabilizer bar with my cutter, so if it's a bit short or long it will not matter, the lift will work fine.

as long as you are not backing up, using your rotary cutter to knock down young trees or buildings, you should be good to go.

one stabilizer bar will keep the cutter from coming over and slicing up your tire.

the pins for the stabilizers MUST be in line with the pins for the 3 point hitch if not parts will fly . you only need one stabilizer bar not two

Another thing to check on your tractor cutter set up,

The stabilizer bar brackets may be set up for a Ferguson implement,
Check the spacing of the lower hitch pins on your Ferguson plow or disk,
If your cutter is an aftermarket implement the spacing may be different, example wider

I have a Ferguson cultivator, the stabilizer bars fit perfect on this implement, but on my house brand cutter, only one fits as the lower pins are
spaced wider,
The stabilizer bars would have to be different length, if I wanted two on the cutter,
The stabilizer bar situation can get a bit frustrating using different brand implements,

Just a small addition to the comments.

I bought an adjustable stabilizer bar. Similar in construction to the top link. I put on the fixed length bar, then adjust the other to fit. Then I tighten it a couple turns to take out all the slack so my implement will not move side to side at all. Works great.

Of course, this only works if the pins on the brackets are exactly in line with the pins on the lift arms. And, the vast majority of the time, one stabilizer bar is enough for me. But when I want to, I can take out all side to side movement entirely.

I agree with marloweg - stabiliser pins must be directly aligned with the mountings for the lower lift arms, if course you are
using a genuine Ferguson stabiliser that is the correct length! I've had recent experience of removing fender bolts - couldn't move
them with a cheater bar on a socket, but they came relatively easily with an electric impact driver, working back and forth with
plenty of lube - the bolts are good quality, and mine were actually re-usable after having been pointed down into the muck for 50
years! Good luck.
