Massey ferguson to-35 new camshaft blues

I have exact new camshaft issue.. Prior to
install I looked at the lobes of this new
one sent to me versus the old one, and swore
I noticed a minute slight difference in
placement, to the naked eye.. same deal..
great spark, getting fuel, firing order
correct, marks lined up.. no dice.. cranks
cranks, nothing.. almost as if the camshaft
itself is spun end for end incorrectly or
something.. very frustrating. Any help
greatly appreciated.

I have NO experience with your specific ENGINE. Any Internal Combustion engines I have maintained there always was a procedure to time the CAMSHAFT.

Eg. With #1 Piston on compression stroke and at "XYZ" degrees on flywheel, you then set a DIAL INDICATOR on the specified CAM LOBE. In the direction of operating rotation you would give the specified lobe the set amount of lift:

I may be way out in left field, however I would obtain the procedure for timing your Cam Shaft:

A good check of valve timing is to hold your hand over the carb inlet, crank the engine over, should get strong, steady vacuum on your hand. If not, something is wrong.

You can do a quick visual check of the cam timing.

Remove the valve cover, align the TDC mark in the hole under the starter.

Look at the #1 and #4 cylinder rockers. If you are at #1 compression, #4 will be in overlap. Slightly rock the crank back and forth while watching the rockers. When timed properly, the rockers in overlap will both be closed at TDC. Rotate the crank 360*, now #1 will be in overlap.

You'll have to get creative to establish a timing mark on the front pulley, but turn the engine another 180*, you can check #2 and #3 the same way.

It is possible the aftermarket cam is made wrong. Never had it happen, but anything is possible.
