Just had to share my recent experience in buying a new rear rim for my TO30 at a local tire shop to replace a calcium eaten rim that was on there.
Tire shop dismounts the 12.4 x 28 tire and shows me the rim is not salvageable. They'll order me a new rim. I mention it's a 9" rim but it's noisy and busy in there and he says he'll handle it.
I pick it up a few days later and things don't look right. I trailer the wheel home, roll it next to the tractor..... Arrrgh !!!!! it's an 11" rim.
They tell me that's what the computer says a 12.4 goes on. I tell them they did not have computers in those days. (Actually I didn't say that but I wish I'd thought of it then)
They said they can't get 9" rims. I mentioned they are all over the internet.
Ok, they get the 9" rim. Dismount the tire from the 11" and mount it on the 9".
I get it home..... they didn't ask me what side of the tractor the tire came off of and I didn't think to tell them...... So guess what...... the tire tread direction is wrong !!!! I now have 2 left wheels
I'm a veteran now !!! If there ever is another time I need to get tires/rims messed with by the local tire shop..... I'll know what to say up front and then I'll watch em like a hawk
