Sherman install followup

After getting the Sherman bolted in last weekend, I ordered some parts for the engine project and then was gone most of the week - got home to some of the parts and went to finish the starter mechanism and pedals/throwout bearing etc associated with the bell housing -

turns out that altho the Ferguson style Sherman makes allowances for the countershaft bearing cap and the gear shift reverse/starter shaft, it does not allow the use of the stock linkage -

some internet research found a thread here from 2008 about the same problem, but no pictures of a solution or an original set up - there was discussion of the custom linkage that would be necessary to make the stock starter switch work - here's what I worked out -

now I have to go scrounge up some metal and spend a bit of time fabricating - the original set up was disabled when I got this tractor and I've been using an automotive style starter switch since I've had it - it is tempting to not mess with this, but if I don't do it now the tractor would have to be split to do it later, so I guess I'll invest the time -

From reading several threads about the Sherman there were two Sherman's one had the cover for a Ford and the other had the cover for a Ferguson. The Ferguson cover would let you use the original stock linkage. The Ford in a Ferguson would not. Please keep us updated how it is done.

Some where I have seen a drawing of the bar to operate the starter. It involves twisting the bar that goes over the Sherman, 90
degrees so it lay's flat across the hump and then twists again 90 degrees to hook up to the switch. Two 45 degree twist can make
that 90 for you also. Use your imagination. I can't find that drawing again currently.
