On a petrol model ?

On TE20's a clothes peg is often used to hold the choke knob out while your hands are busy with the throttle and gear stick start .
The fuel line is a convenient place to hang it afterwards .

It used to be a common practice back in the 50's and 60's to put clothespins on the fuel line to prevent vapor locking,it actually seemed to work,I don't know how much of a heat sink it was,but we used to see that in my Dad's Sinclair station all the time when we checked the oil when putting gas in.

Yes, supposed to stop vapor lock.

Not sure if it worked at all...

Would they insulate the line from underhood heat?

Or work as a heat sink?

Neither is my conclusion.

There was also a theory about taping or clamping cow magnets to the fuel line.

Was supposed to "align the gas molecules" before going into the carb. Should easily double the mileage and HP! LOL
