On the end of rocker arm shaft on the back it has a cork and cotter key in tube to keep oil from running out if on incline. Also for better lubrication. Most the time it's missing. I get small cork from Hobby Lobby that fit's.

Oil is metered up through the rear main upper bearing insert. The insert with the hole must go in the top.

From there the oil passes up a port at the back of the block, and into the head. A common problem is using sealer on the head gasket and having it squish out and block the passage to the head.

It then comes up the rear (I think) rocker shaft stand, and is distributed to the rockers through holes in the shaft. There are also cork (original) plugs in each end of the rocker shaft. Some are replaced with steel or brass plugs, just so it is plugged with something.

There is very little oil offered to the rocker shaft. It is metered, so you won't get it cranking or priming, only after it is running.
