voltage regulator

Problems with generator regulators is one of the reasons I change my tractors to internally regulated alternators

People are always saying this but I have never had any trouble with VR or generator. I make sure the generator works as it should. When I rebuild a tractor I always buy new VR. I keep tractor as close as when it came from the factory. I get it from sparex but I'm sure they are all the same and from China.

Not sure if the price makes much difference on the quality.

If you can find something with a name brand, better chance of getting some warranty if needed, possibly a better product, hard to say.

Any chance you still have the original one? If it's not physically damaged or been wet, sometimes you can clean the contacts and make it live again.

I?m with mixer on this. Always bought a new regulator after a rebuild or new generator. Make sure you polarize the regulator when you put it in.
