Hi, a question for anyone in the UK. Trying to find out whether my old 1948 TEA 20 is still alive. It was in immaculate condition when it was sold in a Carmarthenshire farm sale in 1972 for the staggering sum of ?80 (guessing around $100). It may now be anywhere in the UK. If you know where it may now be living please get in touch. Thanks

Hi David, can you find if it is on a V5 at Swansea. It took me 40 years to find my Uncles 1945 Fordson N reg no GNN660. I lost the trail 43 years ago in Cambridgeshire but it turned up in a farm sale in North Yorkshire three years ago having been barn stored 34 years. Had to rebuild the engine as everything was siezed. If you are a member of the NVTEC the latest copy of Vapourising has a pictue of it. Can i pick your brains David, I am restoring a 1953 Ferguson TEF 20 for an eightyfive year old friend whos farther bought it new. Iam fitting a new chrome throttle leaver and how bo you compress the spring to put the pin in the leaver ? MJ

Hello MJ, thanks for your reply. Have already asked the DVLA and sent the appropriate cheque. Request returned with reason that nostalgia was not a sufficient reason to release the information. All I wanted to know was whether it was still alive as far as they were concerned. Didn't expect to find out who owned it or where it was. Can't be of much help re the throttle other than have you tried a mole grips whilst the spring is compressed and then fit the pin. All my TE20 in storage prior to moving house.

are the auctioneers that held auction still going? if they are its worth a try if they still have records and go from there

So it is/could be- still a licensed vehicle there? So you had the right idea- but the wrong approach? Do you know a solicitor? If he wrote to the gov't, saying there was a 'legal issue' concerning this tractor... I bet they will respond to him in short order. Your first contact is a break in 'their' protocol, liabilities etc etc... your lawyer mate will tell you all about it when he tells you where your tractor is.... good luck!
