to 30 lack of power

Was doing some work this afternoon with the to 30 and it started to run rough. Like it was missing every now and then. It slowly got worse over about 30 minutes until it
no longer had any power at full throttle. Barely limped it home. When I had to go up a bit of a hill, I thought it was going to chock down. Got it home and checked the fuel
bowl and fuel flow and they both seemed ok. Started it back up after about 30 minutes and it seemed to have power back.

Where should I start to troubleshoot this?

thanks in advance for any help

Have you checked the point gap and the condition of the distributor shaft for side play?

Is the gas cap vented? The vent could be clogged, try removing it next time it is acting up.

And be sure the fuel line is as far away from the exhaust as practical. It should have a steel, not copper line, and no paper inline filters.

I?m with Steve, I also think you have a distributor/ignition problem over fuel issue. Any any chance your distributor is loose and maybe got out of time? Or just needs a tune up.

Pull the cap and dust cover off wiggle the rotor shaft to check for play. I had a similar problem with a TO30 and turned out to be the counterweights on the advance were frozen. To check try rotating the rotor, you should get a few degrees of turning under tension. There are distributor kits here with new bushings

My to35 exhibited the same problems, turned out to be a fuel starvation issue, the screen in the elbow at the carb where the fuel line connects was full of crud, the fuel bowl was also pretty dirty.
Also check how tight the fuel bowl is, if it on too tight fuel wont flow down, when running there should be no air bubbles in the fuel bowl.
There is another screen at the fuel bowl / tank, that onbe could also be full of rust. The output from the fuel line should be like a constant stream, not a slow dribble.

Once you clean those you should have good fuel flow, pull the plug at the bottom of the card and let things flush out a few times. Get a small funnel to catch the fuel into a tank. and don't smoke a cigarette :)
