Ferguson tractor deal

My neighbor is cleaning out his shop. He has offered me his Ferguson tractor. He THINKS it is a TO20, and is around 1953? It starts and runs good, all mechanics including hydraulics work good, very minimal oil leakage (a few drops) original lights, badges, etc. Still the original 6 volt system. New battery. He had the gas tank cleaned out a couple of years ago. Comes with two new fenders, and a new draw bar and arms. It does need cleaning up, some wiring work, and definitely a paint job. No real damage anywhere except dents in the rear fenders, hence the two new ones. Been stored inside. Drove it and everything ran good. He said if I was interested, I could have it for $1000.00. Good deal, or?? On the steering column housing are the letters/numbers TO-2551, and the data plate on the dash has TO-52331. Is it a TO-20, and is it a 1953??

serial # 52331 places it as a 1951 TO20 - http://www.mvn.net/tractor/sernum.htm

good deal? Almost certainly if you need/want such a tractor - you'd be hard pressed to get a runner any cheaper and it's right next door so no hauling and such involved -

hows the tires? any implements?

Yes, it runs quite well. The tires, while older, are in decent shape. A little age checking, but nothing serious. It does have a nice 5 foot blade with it. Also the draw bar as mentioned, and another set of arms that are shorter, apparently for pulling a different implement. As to whether I need it or not, NO, I don't "need" it. But, I'd like to have it, as a fan of "old iron" and also having a small farm. My regular tractor is a newer Massey-Ferguson, the TO would be for show, to "play with" and use a bit. I belong to Antique Powerland out here, and each year we hold the "Great Oregon Steam Up" where we get to "strut our stuff" so to speak. Also, while not "rare" the Harry Ferguson's are interesting, especially the history.

Agreed!!!!!!
And next year is Ferguson theme at Oregon steam up so that is another great reason.
And last but not least, an old Ferguson around is a great conversation starter about harry Ferguson and his three point that everyone laughed at but is still very widely used, almost a century later on tractors big and small

$1000 is not bad price. Don't give more that is top price with new tires. Price's are down.No one wanting them due to age. Younger group is not into Ferguson's. It's a older age group that want Ferguson. I've got Ferguson's also.

You mean I have to get her fergy done for the steam-up? That the first weekend in August? I suppose I also need the Rotavator(?) offset tiller
bolted to the PTO also.
Well, I now have 10 months and declining.
