Ford 841 power sterring

I have a new project so you might see me here more often. Today's question is about my power steering pump. My 841 has power steering but was not working when i bought it . Got it home and first thing was to check the fluid. I took the top off which is held on with a band " its not the type where the a bolt goes through the top" like i had on my 63 t-bird. It's an Eaton pump. There was no filter , low on fluid and it had nice cream color fluid . I think water got in through the top because the gaskets are shot and the right cylinder is leaking. But what i am wondering about is the filter . I see where it goes but what holds it in place? I added some fluid to it and the power steering did work some what ,leaking a little at the cylinder and out the top of the reservoir. So I think drain ,new belt , gasket kit . new cylinder and filter would help a lot. But what holds the filter in place?

(quoted from post at 15:20:50 09/18/17) Thanks I new there had to be something to hold it in place now to find one.
I recently put one in my 851. By the time I was done getting that
thing to work right, I knew exactly why they pitched the filter!
Part number was C0NN3C603B. Google will find you one.
Be prepared for sticker shock though.

Yeah I found out $40.00 at the new holland dealer. They also have a rebuild kit for the cylinder my left one leaks and that's $70.00 not sure if I should rebuilt or buy new aftermarket for 250 . I'm finding out anything to do with power Steering on theseTractor's is expensive but still cheaper than the doctor bills when I need to get a rotor cuff operation

With a little patience you can find working used cylinders on eBay fairly frequently, often for under $100 off a working tractor. I just watched a pair that went for $100 (wish I'd bid!) but their condition was unknown.

Make sure you get a cylinder with the same rod size as what came off. Different sizes will bolt up, but may not have the same oil reservoir size which could mess with the operation of it.
