Ford 2000 tractor Radiator question

Folks i recently had to replace my radiator on a 64 Ford 2000 gas tractor. My old radiator had the drain port on bottom of lower hose metal connector. New radiator has drain port on the front bottom portion of radiator as you are looking at it. I assumed like a lot of aftermarket parts it was just a case of part is made to fit multiple models and such. However when i got everything bolted on i noticed the front hood latch rests on top of radiator? Question is it supposed to do that? I dont recall if old one was the same way and just worried over time latch will rub/poke hole into radiator? I did turn around and put a piece of inner tube between hood latch and radiator to buffer it.

You don't want the latch to contact the radiator - you're right about it rubbing a hole in it. Where was the new radiator made?
China? I put one of those in a NAA a couple years ago for a relative... with how it fit, I vowed I'd never do it again. They just
don't fit well at all.

..........and contacting the two surfaces which are suspended differently, going over rough terrain will put undue pressure on all the solder joints in the radiator......in short, expect a premature tube or tank leak. I would find a way to get around that problem.

You may be able to squeeze a little more clearance by loosening the two bolts at the bottom of the dog leg and have someone lift the hood straight up while tightening the bolts back up.
