HELP! Stopped running. After tune up it would hit. Now nothing. Got fuel. No spark at plugs. So I Replaced coil, resistor, breaker plate, points condenser, dist cap, rotor button, plugs and plug wires. So valves are opening and closing, compression on #1 at TDC. FO is confirmed as 1,2,4,3. With #1 at the front of engine. Any ideas where I go to look next?

Check the wire form the coil to the points where it passes through the distributor body. They have been known to wear through there and short to ground.

Key on engine off: Remove small wire at distributor, check for battery voltage or resisted voltage at wire.

YES - check continuity through distributor body to points. Also check for ground from dist terminal to dist body with points open.

NO - check wiring, key switch, etc. to find out where power stops.

The only thing left to check electrically is the ignition switch and battery on the ignition circuit. Buy a 12v circuit tester from Harbor Freight for $5 and trace the circuit to find out where you are losing power.

Had the same issue with mine. After throwing $100 worth of parts at it, the circuit tester revealed it was the $5 ignition switch

Thanks for your responses. I hot wired the coil bypassing the switch. I have voltage thru resistor, coil and dist body to the points. When checking for ground, my meter beeps continuity but does not show any measureable resistance. I have to assume I am checking dist terminal on dist to the dist hsg. Any way, still scratching my head.
