Hi, I would like to find a Fordson 6 cylinder engine to put it in a Super Major. Here in italy this engines are very rare; where were they used in england, only in tractors or also in other machines?
And where they made by Ford or other companies?

Bon Giorno. 6D engine were mainly used in trucks. There is another engine that will fit but I can't remember what it is. I will check it out and come back to you MTF

Hi Brian. I dont think so. I think its the 6cyl engine from the ford trucks and medium sized plant, cranes etc etc that is often put into FMD series fordsons. I'm still trying to find exact answers MTF

Go to the "Parts & Pieces" section to the left. If you search on my initials, you will find some of those engines pictured.

Some dealers in France were authorized to sell six cylindered Fordsons, but they used a much stronger frame, not just an extension of the std frame.

Yes, also in Italy there was a dealer that put 6 cylinder engine on the Nuffield 470 (that became the 680) and Super major. The nuffield Engine was Bmc, and the ford engine was the 510E (it's the same to the 6D?); the ford was modified to be more long, but the modify was legally registered on the documents of the tractor.
This dealer was Vittorio Cantatore of Moncalieri, that also imported tractors from England
