Dad and I bought an old fordson and it has attachment on it. We think it is part of a loader or blade. Are we correct?
Thanks

I don't think it's heavy enough for that. Are the two cable drums independent, or do they only
work together? Does the handle work to reverse the winding? I don't know what the left side
housing is for? A brake? A dog clutch to shift power to one side or the other? I would guess
it's made for pulling something, like a barge across a river, for example.

Hi Google images is your friend. i just did a search for fordson f loader and there is a picture of a grey painted tractor with a loader fitted. I bet this is the winch system for it, the loader looks like one of those wonderful engineering creations of old days just after hand shovels were invented L.O.L! . i fix tractors but have no clue how to post a link to that picture, sorry about that. But you should be able to find it easy enough.
Regards Robert

I'm sure that's the one. It looks like the two drums work in unison. I'm guessing that left
side housing is a holding brake. The structure that shows by the rear wheels is strictly for
maintaining a level bucket, thus robustness not so important. The main frame takes all the
stress.

Must have been fun to steer.
