Can anyone help identify which year model tractor I have? Found a few numbers stamped on the front left. Also there is a fuel leak under the fuel tank, and a small amount of white smoke coming from the oil cap. Has anyone been thru these fixes? Thanks in advance.

The serial number is stamped on a small plate mounted to the firewall behind the gas tank, If the engine is original, it should have the same number stamped on the block just below
the head gasket near the front of the engine.
If you have a radiator shop, they might be able to fix the tank, if not, find a used one or
a new reproduction.
As far as smoke, I can't help you. Fresh fuel, and oil, and lube in the injector pump is
all you can do to start with. These old tractors didn't have recirculation of blow-by gases.

3E16 is 1963, May, 16th. You should find numbers like that on all the cast parts such as
gearbox, rear axle, hydraulic lift. If they are all around the same date that will show
you have an original tractor and not a "Bitsa".

These old girls, even when worn, will start when you show them the key in most
conditions. Check you have a good flow of fuel from the tank to the injection pump,
through all the filters. there is a filter in the fuel tap which you get to by removing
the tap itself, this gets plugged and forgotten.

Change all the oils and drain and refill the injection pump oil. This will be mostly
diesel when you drain it but this is fine as diesel is allowed to bleed into the governor
housing. The oil is to lubricate the mechanical governor not the pumping elements which
are lubricated by diesel.

There is a small button in the pivot of the stop lever on the pump. This is the excess
fuel device and is pressed in when needed to start in very cold weather. It can stick in
and cause the engine not to start so grip it with a pair of pliers and gently pull to
check it is fully out.

thanks for all the advice and tips! Looking forward to getting her the TLC she needs and hopefully make her look a little more refreshed.
