Case 222 w/ H40 Rotary Mower Deck

I recently acquired a Case 222 tractor with an H40 (pretty sure that is the modle number) Rotary Mower Deck. It also came with a snow blower attachement. When I got the tractor as part of a deal on a house, and didn't really get a chance to ask the previous owner much about it. The snow blower was attached to it (since I got it in the winter) and I am having difficulties attachign to mower deck. I have the manuals and have the general configuration down, [u:28a2bd6451]I just am missing all the pins and moutning hardware for the deck. Is there somewhere I can pick these up from or order from?[/u:28a2bd6451]

So far I am really pleased with the tractor, it fires right up and runs like a top. This is the first lawn tracto I've ever owned, so I am a little green on how ot handle issues with it, but I know my way around engines so I think I'll be able to take good care of it. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your 222 must be an early 70's model for it to have an H-deck. Yes, H-40 is the correct model number and it is a 38" cutting width.

If you removed the blower, then you already know that you must remove the drive belt first and then pull the spring-loaded pins on the end of the frame to allow the blower's mule bracket to tilt down and then lift off the tractor.

The deck has a similar mule bracket that attaches the exact same way. There is a steel frame that is attached to the mule bracket that extends rearward over the top of the deck and connects to the deck at four points.

Scroll way down until you see the title "Rotary Mowers" and click on the J-40 PDF. As Case made minor changes to the decks, the first letter changed from H to J, K, L, M and N but they are all very, very similar.

The exploded diagrams will help you understand what parts you do have and what parts you don't. If all you are missing are the pins, then any decent hardware store should have those in stock. They're just a plain 1/2" diameter pin with a head on one end and cross-drilled hole on the other to accept a "hairpin" or "blanket pin" type of fastener.

Thanks for the info. I did get the snow blower disconnected, and was amazed at how easily it came off. I expected to at least need a few wrences, but just the few pins, and the belt and it ws off.

I do have the Mule for the deck, and I was thinking it would be easy to find some pins to attach the deck. Hwever the 4 mounting holes on the mule and the deck do not line up. I looked at the manual and it looks like there is a special pin that goes in the back two holes to connect the two pieces. I'll take a look at the site and hopefully figure it out.

However, when I look at page 15, I see the parts labled #43, 47 & 48.

Would I be able to get those parts from a hardware store? I will check today after work, but those seem pretty specific, escpecially #47.

The parts you refer to are not common, everyday items that can be found locally. They are all made specifically for these decks.

If you have the used parts that would work for me. I need all the "un-common" parts to connect the mower deck to the mule. From what I can see, this would just be the few parts for the rear mounting points. Can you please send me a price and contact me at [email protected] and we can work out the details.
