HI,
I have a Cub 682 that will not move. I pulled the rear sheet metal for full access. I can tell thet the pump shaft is turning. I put a gauge on the pressure port and with the lever in full forward I get nothing (no pressure), but once in a wile I get a chatter comming back via the spring thing the lever connects to and the rean wheels turn a bit.
Background, the tractor wouldn't run and sat outside for several years. I recently got it after my father passed away. I ended up replacing to coil to get it going and drove it around and it went great, then all of a sudden it started not moving and then it would work fine for a bit. Fluid looks clear and full. Any Ideas?

Stopped up filter, perhaps?

Release/bypass valves open? (The valves you open so you can push the unit with the engine off.)

IF the input shaft to the hydro is rotating when the engine is on, then the second place to look at as mentioned before, is the Hydro Filter. Replace this Hydro Filter.

Changing the filer gave instant results it now moves. So I thought before getting too far I should change the fluid. I drained it but now having a heck of a time refilling via the dipstick tube. Takes very little at a time and the "burbs" back. The manual doesn't anything specal about refilling. What am I doing wrong?

Yeah....that is a pain. As a suggestion, get some small tubing, insert into the Dipstick Tube, say about 12-15". At the top of the tube, bend it off to one side. Then pour your fluid in Dipstick tube. This allows the air to escape. :)
 

Update:
A fluid and filter change and it now drives! Fluid was clear until the end then it turned red. It looked and smells like auto transmission fluid.
